NIFT 2026 Exam-day Guidelines – Reporting Time, What to and not to Carry, Attempting the Exam

NIFT 2026 Exam-day Guidelines – NTA will conduct the NIFT 2026 exam sometime around the 1st week of February 2026.

When attending the exam, you must follow strict rules prescribed by NTA officials. Also, it is recommended to reach the NIFT 2026 exam center at least an hour in advance. 

If the candidate doesn’t follow the NIFT 2026 exam rules, there is a chance they may be disqualified or compromise their chances of doing well in the exam.

For instance, if you arrive late at the NIFT 2026 exam center, you may not be allowed inside the NIFT exam hall 2026. If by chance you are even allowed inside the exam hall, the corresponding tension and anxiety may disrupt your mindset and focus, which is not a good thing to deal with on exam day.

So, make sure to follow NIFT 2026 exam instructions to the T.

Like, carry a valid ID proof and the NIFT 2026 admit card. 

Also note that NTA will not make arrangements for a baggage counter; so, bring only the items you need to take the exam.

Program-wise NIFT 2026 Test Timings 

NIFT 2026 Exam-day Guidelines

On the day of the NIFT 2026 exam, the candidate must follow the guidelines mentioned below.

• Reporting Time – To avoid crowding at the exam center, report at the NIFT 2026 exam centre at the time mentioned in the admit card.
• Entry to be stopped 60 minutes before the start of the exam.
• Late entry will not be permitted under any circumstances.
• Baggage counter – NTA will not make any provisions for a baggage counter. Also, baggage is not allowed inside the exam venue. NTA will not be responsible for any belongings stolen or lost at the premises.
• Prohibited material – Candidates should not be in possession of any material listed in the list of prohibited material. Any candidate found in possession of such items will be disqualified (explained in detail below).
• The candidate’s biometric information will be captured upon arrival at the exam center. Identity checks will be made to ensure that there are no unauthorized candidates appearing for the test. The candidate must cooperate with the security personnel for security checks.
• Admit card is mandatory for entry inside the exam hall.
• Candidates should take their seat immediately after entering the examination hall. If not, they may miss some of the general instructions to be announced in the Examination Rooms/ Halls. NTA is responsible for any delay.
• Any candidate found to have changed room/ hall or the seat on his/her own other than allocated will be considered as a case of unfair means and the candidate will be disqualified and no plea will be accepted.
• Sign and paste photograph – The candidate must sign and paste the photograph on the Attendance Sheet at the appropriate place.
• Verification of the Question Paper – The candidate must ensure that the question paper available on the computer is as per the opted examination indicated in the NIFT 2025 admit card. In case, the subject of the question paper is other than the opted exam, it must be brought to the notice of the Invigilator concerned.
• STATIONERY – The candidate should carry with them a simple transparent ballpoint pen, pencils, erasers, and rulers (in a transparent pouch). CAT applicants must also bring their Colouring and Drawing material. For CAT a physical Question Booklet with space for responses will be provided inside the NIFT 2026 exam hall.
• Rough WORK – All calculations/writing work must be done only in the rough sheet provided in the exam room/hall. Further, on completion of the test, candidates must hand over the rough sheets to the invigilator. The rough sheets will have a Header Page where the candidate has to write down their name and roll number.
• Dress Code – NTA hasn’t prescribed any dress code for the NIFT 2026 exam. However, it is recommended to dress reasonably and not wear something too fancy or indecent. Note that wearing too much clothing or jewelry could lead to extended frisking.

NIFT 2026 Exam-day Guidelines – Prohibited Items

The following items are not allowed inside the NIFT 2025 exam center. Candidates found in possession of these items will be disqualified.

Also, note that smoking, chewing gutka, spitting, etc. in the NIFT 2026 examination hall is strictly prohibited.

Special Allowance: Only candidates who are appearing for CAT Exam (2nd shift) will be permitted to carry their colouring and drawing material in a transparent pencil box. 

For CAT a physical Question Booklet with space for responses will be provided at the NIFT 2026 exam canter.

Acceptable Photo ID Cards for NIFT 2026

The candidate can carry any of the following documents as a valid photo ID proof on NIFT 2026 exam day.

NIFT 2026 City Intimation Slip

The city slip for the NIFT 2026 exam will be released around the last week of January 2026. The candidate can download the city slip using their application number and date of birth. Note that the city slip is not required on the day of the exam. It merely informs the candidate about the exam city they have been allocated.

The name and address of the NIFT 2026 exam city allocated to the candidate will be mentioned on the NIFT 2026 admit card.
