The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, the organising institute for GATE 2026, has postponed the release of the GATE 2026 admit card, which was earlier scheduled to be issued on January 2, 2026. As per the latest official update, no revised date has been announced yet, and candidates are advised to regularly check the official website gate2026.iitg.ac.in for fresh notifications.

The admit card has to be downloaded online at gate2026.iitg.ac.in.

Once released, candidates will be able to download the GATE 2026 hall ticket by logging in with their Enrollment ID / Email ID and Password. The GATE 2026 exam dates remain unchanged and will be conducted on February 7, 8, 14 and 15, 2026 in multiple shifts across India. Carrying the admit card along with a valid photo ID is mandatory to appear for the examination.

GATE 2026 Exam-Day Guidelines

Candidates should reach the exam centre at least one hour before the reporting time mentioned on the admit card. The entry gates usually close 30 minutes before the exam, and late entry is not permitted under any circumstances. Carry a printed copy of the admit card, a valid original photo ID, and a passport-size photograph. Electronic gadgets such as mobile phones, smart watches, calculators, Bluetooth devices, books, and notes are strictly prohibited.
