Guwahati, October 13, 2025 – The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, the organizing body for GATE 2026, will close the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 registration portal TODAY, October 13, 2025, with an applicable late fee.
This provides a final window for candidates who missed earlier deadlines to apply for the prestigious exam, which serves as a gateway for M.Tech, Ph.D. admissions at IITs, NITs, IISc, and over 1,000 institutes, as well as PSU recruitments.
The extension follows multiple revisions to the original schedule, reflecting strong applicant interest amid a new sectional paper introduction.
Originally slated to end on October 6 without late fee and October 9 with late fee, the deadline has now been pushed to October 13 to accommodate more registrations. “This final extension ensures broader access to quality education opportunities,” stated an IIT Guwahati official. Over 10 lakh candidates are expected to appear, building on the record 9.3 lakh from GATE 2025.
