GATE 2026: Amid concerns that the Union Public Service Commission’s (UPSC) Engineering Services Examination (ESE) 2026 may clash with the GATE 2025 exam, IIT Guwahati has now come forward and assured candidates that it will ensure the smooth conduct of the exam.
The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 committee has said that it will take all necessary steps to ensure there is no clash with the Union Public Service Commission’s (UPSC) Engineering Services Examination (ESE) 2026.
The GATE 2026 is scheduled to be conducted February 7, 8, 14, and 15. Meanwhile, the ESE 2026 preliminary exam is scheduled for February 8, 2026.
IIT Guwahati has stated that core engineering papers including electronics engineering (EC), civil engineering (CE), geology and geophysics (GG), electrical engineering (EE), instrumentation (IN), production and industrial (PI), mechanical engineering (ME), and geomatics engineering (GE) will not be held on February 8, 2026. This is done to avoid a clash with the ESE exam.
The application form of GATE 2026 is currently open till September 28; however, with late fee applications will be accepted till October 9, 2025.
The application form has to be filled out online at goaps.iitg.ac.in/login. The GATE 2026 exam portal is gate2026.iitg.ac.in.

GATE 2026 exam
IIT Guwahati will conduct the GATE 2026 exam for 30 test papers. Candidates can appear in a maximum of TWO papers.
The GATE 2026 will be an objective-type test with the language of the exam being English.
