Guwahati, October 6, 2025 – The GATE 2026 application fee with standard fee will close today, October 6, 2025

Organized by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, GATE 2026 is a national-level exam for admission to prestigious postgraduate programs at IITs, NITs, and other top institutions. GATE scores are also considered for job applications in Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) like ONGC, IOCL, and BHEL.

The GATE 2026 application process kicked off on August 28, 2025, via the official GOAPS portal at gate2026.iitg.ac.in, and has seen a surge in submissions as the deadline looms. Candidates who complete their registration by midnight today will have to pay the regular fee—₹2,000 for General/OBC/EWS categories and ₹1000 for SC/ST/PwD categories (plus ₹500 per additional test paper for Indian applicants). 

GATE Application Form 2026 – Late Fees

A late fee will be applicable in case the candidate applies between October 7 and October 9, 2025.

Late Fees:

  • General/OBC/EWS – ₹500 
  • reserved categories – ₹250

Conduct of GATE 2026 exam

IIT Guwahati will conduct the GATE 2026 exam on February 7, 8, 14, and 15. The exam will be conducted for 30 test papers. One can appear in a maximum of TWO papers. 

As per the official GATE 2026 exam pattern, the exam question paper will be set in English and include objective-type questions.

How to fill GATE 2026 Application Form

  1. Go to GATE 2026 exam portal gate2026.iitg.ac.in and log in/create your GOAPS account using your email and password.
  2. Fill in the Form: Upload your photo, signature, and category certificate (if applicable). Choose up to two test papers.
  3. Pay the application fee: The candidate has to next pay the applicable application fee using net banking, debit/credit card, or UPI.

Submit and Save: Download the confirmation page.
