NEET Exam Analysis 2025 – Key Takeaways

Chemistry

  • The Chemistry section was quite lengthy, requiring meticulous attention to detail. Experts noted that even small misinterpretations could lead to mistakes, emphasizing that while the theoretical portions were relatively straightforward, the application-based questions significantly increased the difficulty level.
  • Most questions were drawn from the Class 12 syllabus, demanding clear conceptual understanding and analytical skills.
  • The section included numerous statement-based and matrix-match questions, along with one assertion-reason question. Notably, several problems required the integration of multiple concepts at once, making them more time-consuming compared to the previous year’s exam.

NEET Chemistry 2025 exam analysis

TopicNumber of Questions
Physical Chemistry16
Inorganic Chemistry12
Organic Chemistry17

Biology

  • The Biology section (Botany and Zoology), while not overly complex conceptually, was notably lengthy. The questions demanded thorough reading and attention to detail. Questions were based on NCERT syllabus, and the problems were framed conceptually, with subtle phrasing designed to test deeper understanding rather than simple memorization.
  • Most questions followed a familiar pattern, though a few posed a challenge. Some questions were derived from introductory passages, chapter-end exercises, and even brief scientist profiles featured at the beginning of certain chapters.
  • According to experts, more questions were asked from Class 12 syllabus compared to Class 11, offering a balanced combination of factual, conceptual, and analytical questions.

Physics

According to most students and also experts, Physics was the most difficult of the three sections. Unless the candidate had a deep conceptual grasp and strong analytical skills, it was very difficult to attempt questions in the section.

Many questions though formula-driven, yet multi-layered, requiring significant time investment. Students found it particularly tough as they had to integrate concepts from different chapters to solve problems, further elevating the difficulty level.

Most test-takers struggled with time management, especially when tackling complex problems from Modern Physics, Electrodynamics, and Thermodynamics.

The section was exceptionally rigorous, with a heavier emphasis on Class 11 topics and calculation-intensive problems.

Interestingly, the section included very few, if any, statement-based, assertion-reason, or match-the-column type questions.

Mechanics-based questions were mostly asked.

How to select the best books for NEET 2026

Here a few salient features that all good books have:

  1. Covers NEET 2026 syllabus – If the books don’t cover the NEET syllabus 2026, there is no point in buying them. Go to the index of the book and check out the topics. Also, read the preface to get a grasp of the target audience of the book. If it is written for the NEET entrance exam, we are good to go.
  2. Latest edition – The same book can have multiple editions. Always buy the latest edition, as it will have the current information. For instance, if there is a change in the syllabus, the new edition will reflect it. Likewise, the new edition will have fresh problem sets and include the latest question papers.
  3. Contain few to no errors – If the book is good, it will contain few to no errors. Now this is crucial when preparing for an exam like NEET. Because it will take more time to unlearn something than to learn it. Also, factually correct books will build your confidence, while the reverse is true for books riddled with errors.
  4. Written for the average joe – You are not participating in any literary competition. Nor do you have the time and patience to deal with books that use flowery and complicated vocabulary to explain simple concepts. Instead, you need books that will succinctly, but in simple language explain the concept at hand. Some books will go on and on when a few phrases will suffice. So, before you buy a book, do some test reading of some topics. It won’t be hard to identify if the book would be useful or be a pain.
  5. Well known author/ publisher – There are a number of good books for NEET preparation written by newcomers, but before you go for a completely unknown identity, you need to do some research. For instance, check the credentials of the author, what topics he has included, how is his book being received, and is there any negative feedback. If there is any negative feedback, what is it about?
